The Berryhill Farm is located in SE Minnesota just north of Rochester. We initially began raising sheep in 2007 to help keep the grass under control. Through the years we have become more and more agressive at using their trimming abilities -- even using them to keep the road ditches around the farm and the neighbor's yards trimmed as well!
On our farm we now raise two heritage breeds of longwool sheep - Leicester Longwools and Wensleydales. Leicester Longwools, first developed in the mid 1700's, were once the most popular breed worldwide, but now are listed as "threatened" according to the Livestock Conservancy. Wensleydales, known for their gorgeous, long stapled fleece were actually developed out of Leicester Lonwools - so we think they are a pretty good match!
